Another take on my favorite theory: Wild isn't the current holder of the Hero's Spirit. Wild has always been a bit different from the other Links, this was a common fact among the group of time-traveling Links, but none of the past heroes could ever imagine just how different their newest member is.
Too bad the Chosen Heroes of the past decide to drag him into their mission before he can fully figure out just what he is. He's something much different though no less important in the grand scheme of destiny. AKA: Breath of the Wild Link isn't actually a "Link" blessed with the Hero's Spirit or even the Triforce of Courage. Where the Hero of Courage once fell, the Wildling now rises. A new life born without the Goddess's blessing, created by magics old and forgotten, something new and impossibly different took its first breaths.
